Jèma Corvina Veronese IGT 2017

A different take on drying, starring carefully selected 100% Corvina grapes that undergo traditional red wine vinification process and 18 months of barrique and tonneaux ageing.

The 2017 vintage saw cold weather, minimal rainfall, and late frosts affecting a small part of Valpolicella. Summer was hot and dry, with hailstorms in late August and September causing minor damage. Despite the climatic stress, the vines adapted well.

On the eye, Jèma 2017 stands out for its vibrant purple-red colour. Red fruits and macerated cherries with subtle toasted notes and hints of cocoa, coffee, and black pepper come together on the nose, while the palate is smooth, full and balanced, with a long and persistent finish.

climate trend

The 2017 vintage is marked by cold weather and a lack of precipitation, with late frosts affecting only a small area of Valpolicella during April. The summer months experienced high temperatures and widespread drought conditions. Just before the harvest, between August and September, hailstorms partially impacted the Valpantena and eastern Valpolicella areas, causing limited damage. September concluded with thunderstorms and temperatures below average. Nevertheless, the vines in the area coped well with the climatic stress.

vinification & maturation

Carefully selected Corvina grapes undergo the traditional red wine vinification process. This is followed by 18 months of ageing in French oak barriques and tonneaux.
